The Palomar Ballroom was founded by Steve Hughes and is the premier dance spot in the Santa Cruz County area, offering instruction in both American and International Ballroom and Latin dances for recreation or competition.
The Palomar Ballroom also arranges regular dance parties and invites the public to its elegant ballroom that dates back to the 1930's with its ornate architecture, reminiscent of the time when dance was the most popular social past time.

Renting the BallroomIf you would like to rent out the ballroom for an event, please give us a call. The cost of the event depends on the number of people, the date and time of day, and the number of hours needed. The capacity of the ballroom is 150 people. Due to the proximity of residents in the Hotel, live music is not allowed unless it is acoustical, but DJs are welcome, or you may choose to play your own music using our audio equipment which includes a Music Machine packed full of hundreds of danceable tunes. Practicing at the Ballroom
Students are always welcome to come and practice at the ballroom, providing they do not come when there is a class in session. Cost for practice is $10 per person or couple. Private lesson students may come and practice for free. When you are there, please show respect for other teachers and students, and always give the teachers control of the Music Machine. Many students bring in MP3 players in order to play their own music. (mp3 ballroom dance music can be purchased at iTunes.) When you come in to practice, please pay at the desk or look for Jeremy or another teacher to pay your practice fee to.

FINDING THE BALLROOM FROM THE GARAGE
Exit the garage on the right side of the parking lot (if you were facing it from Front Street). There is a doorway going out onto an alley way of sorts. Walk across the alley through the doors into the next building. Turn immediately left into the Taqueria, then right into the El Palomar bar. Turn left and walk through the restaurant into the Palomar Hotel lobby. Walk up one flight of steps and follow the signs to the ballroom. Please respect the diners in the restaurant. If you are arriving during meal times, instead of walking through the restaurant, walk STRAIGHT through the Taqueria into the coffee shop and out onto the Pacific Ave. Turn right on the sidewalk, then right again into the Palomar Hotel. Follow the steps up to the ballroom.
